Joint Meeting of the Economic and Social Council and the Peacebuilding Commission

The President of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), H.E. Ms. Lachezara Stoeva, and the Chair of the Peacebuilding Commission (PBC), H.E. Mr. Ivan Šimonović, will convened a joint meeting of ECOSOC and the PBC on 29 June 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The theme of the joint meeting was “The importance of SDGs in linking peace and development on the ground”.

Building on the joint meeting of ECOSOC and the PBC on “Peacebuilding, sustaining peace and sustainable development: Towards coherence and impact on the ground” convened on 2 December 2022, the meeting will focus on ways to operationalize the peace and development nexus to promote coherence and impact for peacebuilding, sustaining peace and sustainable development on the ground. The meeting will explore the role of the United Nations system entities in this endeavor, as well as the Economic and Social Council and the Peacebuilding Commission.

The outcome of the meeting is a Joint Summary by the ECOSOC President and the PBC Chair, highlighting the main conclusions and recommendations.
