WHAT?

The ECOSOC Youth Forum, which was scheduled to take place on 1 and 2 April 2020 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, was postponed in early March 2020 due to COVID-19.

As uncertainties continue from the impact of COVID-19 in the rescheduling of meetings of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for the rest of 2020, a decision was taken by the Bureau of ECOSOC and Member States on the need to defer the 2020 ECOSOC Youth Forum until Spring of 2021 based on safety and health concerns. New dates for the ECOSOC Youth Forum in 2021 will be communicated.

A programme of virtual activities to engage, mobilize and amplify the voices of youth in preparations for the ECOSOC Youth Forum in 2021 will be developed shortly in collaboration with the Office of the Secretary General’s Envoy on Youth (OSGEY), the Major Group for Children and Youth (MGCY), the International Coordination Meeting of Youth Organizations (ICMYO) as well as partners in the UN system.
