High-level segment of the Council, including the three-day ministerial segment of the high-level political forum on sustainable development, convened under the auspices of the Council

The 2024 High-level Segment (HLS) of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) will take place from Monday to Thursday, 15 - 18 July 2024, including the three-day ministerial meeting of the high-level political forum on sustainable development (HLPF).

What

The 2024 High-level Segment (HLS) of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) will convene in-person at the United Nations Headquarters in New York under the 2024 ECOSOC and High-level political forum on sustainable development (HLPF) theme of "Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions”.

The HLS will open on 15 July with three-day ministerial meetings of the HLPF.

On 18 July, the HLS will include presentations of the Secretary General’s reports on the theme of the HLPF and ECOSOC and on "long-term trends and scenarios: impacts on the realization of the SDGs” as well as a presentation of the Report of the United Nations Committee on Development Policy. In addition, two panel discussions will be held, on “Multilateral solutions for a better tomorrow: the role of ECOSOC towards a sustainable and resilient path by 2030”  from 10:30 am to 1 pm, and on “Current trends and their impacts: Looking to the future and the realization of the SDGs”  from 3 to 5 pm.  These discussions will offer opportunities for interventions from Ministers and other representatives of Member States, UN system organizations, intergovernmental organizations and other international and regional organizations, as well as civil society.

The adoption of the Ministerial Declaration and the conclusion of the High-Level Segment will take place from 5 to 6 p.m.
