ECOSOC High-level Segment

What?

The theme of the 2019 session of ECOSOC is “Empowering people and ensuring inclusiveness and equality”

Held on an annual basis, the High-level Segment represents the culmination of ECOSOC's annual cycle of work and convenes a diverse group of high-level representatives from Government, the private sector, civil society and academia. The latest resolution adopted on a review of ECOSOC at the General Assembly in the 72nd  session (A/RES/72/305), decided that the final day of the High-level Segment of ECOSOC, which will take place the day following the closure of the ministerial segment of the HLPF, would “focus on future trends and scenarios related to the Council theme, the long-term impact of current trends, such as the contribution of new technologies, in the economic, social and environmental areas on the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals, based on the work of the United Nations and other regional and international organizations and bodies as well as other stakeholders.”  

When?

The 2019 High-level Segment of ECOSOC will be held  on 19 July 2019, at UN Headquarters in New York.
