The 2016 ECOSOC operational activities for development segment took place on 22-24 February 2016 at UN Headquarters in New York. An important objective of the segment was to review progress and lessons learned in the implementation of General Assembly resolution 67/226 (2012) on the quadrennial comprehensive policy review of operational activities for development of the UN system (QCPR) since its adoption.
Given the recent adoption of the 2030 Agenda, another key objective of the 2016 Operational Activities for Development Segment was to discuss its implications of the new Agenda for the UN development system, and to contribute to the ongoing ECOSOC Dialogue on the longer-term positioning of the UN.
This year’s segment has added value since the negotiation and adoption of the next General Assembly resolution on the QCPR begins later this year. For more information please see the 2016 segment.
