The afternoon session of the Global Preparatory Meeting for the 2008 High-level Segment of ECOSOC served as an opportunity to discuss the expectations and vision for the first biennial Development Cooperation Forum (DCF).
It included a briefing on the preparatory process towards the DCF, in particular the outcomes of the Vienna High-level Symposium (19-20 April 2007), which focused on “country-level experiences in coordinating and managing development cooperation” and the recent Cairo High-level Symposium (19-20 January 2008), with the theme of “trends in development cooperation: South-South and triangular cooperation and aid effectiveness”.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for participants to discuss how the 2008 DCF – as a principal forum for global policy dialogue and review of international development cooperation – would be expected to influence the processes of the Monterrey Follow-up Conference and the Accra High-level Forum on Aid Effectiveness, both of which took place in the second half of 2008.
