The Economic and Social Council convened a Meeting on “Pathways to resilience in climate-affected Small Island Developing States (SIDS)– A Forward-Looking Resilience Building Agenda: Promises, results and next steps”. The meeting took place from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 13 November 2018 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Objectives

The Council convened this follow-up meeting to take stock of progress on actions contained in the Presidential Statement on its 2017 Special Meeting on “Aftermath of recent hurricanes: Achieving a risk informed and resilient 2030 Agenda”. This follow-up ECOSOC Meeting focused on commitments made and results achieved to date in SIDS vulnerable to shocks associated with natural hazards and explored new and innovative approaches to financing climate resilience. A Presidential Statement has been issued on the main recommendations.
