2013 Operational activities for development segment

The 2013 Operational Activities Segment (OAS) was organized from Wednesday, 10 July, to Friday, 12 July in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Operational Activities Segment is the place where Council exercises oversight of the funds and programmes and UN Women – which are “under the authority of the Council” (A/RES/48/162). 

The 2013 OAS focused on reviewing the progress of the implementation of the GA resolution 67/266 of the UN system operational activities for development (QCPR) as well as the role of the UN development system in a changing development cooperation landscape.

The Segment will include thematic discussions on the following areas:

  • Progress in the implementation of General Assembly resolution 67/266 on the QCPR - Perspectives from UN programme countries
  • Opportunities and challenges for the UN development system: expectations of Member States
  • Accountability for system-wide results and impact

The Council also organized dialogues with the Executive Heads of Funds and Programmes and the Chairs of Executive Boards of Funds and Programmes.
